
Georgia's foreign exchange reserves are at a record level. According to the statistics published by the National Bank of Georgia, as of September 30, the volume of reserves is $4.313 billion. This is almost $236 million more compared to the same period of the previous year. As of September 2021, the volume of reserves was $4.077 billion.
As for foreign exchange reserves by components, the largest share in reserve assets account for foreign currency reserves, which amounted to approximately $3.853 billion in September; it is $262.9 million more than the volume recorded in the same period of the previous year. Last year, foreign currency reserves also amounted to $3.590 billion. As of September 2022, out of foreign exchange reserves, securities are denominated in 2.704 billion US dollars, while 1.149 billion US dollars are deposited in cash.
To be reminded, so far the National Bank of Georgia had the largest foreign exchange reserve (namely, $4.272 billion) in December 2021.
