Under the chairmanship of Georgian Railway, another general meeting of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (Middle Corridor) was held.
As the Georgian Railway reported, representatives of the railway and maritime companies of Georgia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Turkey and Romania gathered in the Kazakh port city of Aktau.
"The parties discussed the following issues: the results of the 8 months of 2023 and the challenges identified during the shipments carried out under the conditions of the new geopolitical situation; In order to optimize the shipping terms in the middle corridor, when organizing the runs of container block trains, a cooperation document was signed between the parties, in which the obligations of the parties regarding the shipping terms will be determined; the agreement on the organization of container shipments between the Caspian Sea ports (Aktau, Baku, Aliati) by direct international rail and sea communications will ensure the stability of the operation of feeder ships on the Caspian Sea and automation and digitization of the processes of receiving and exchanging information about the location of containers.
It should be noted here that the 10th anniversary of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route was celebrated in Aktau. At the end of the meeting, the chairman of the general meeting, the General Director of Georgian Railways, Davit Peradze, thanked his colleagues for active cooperation and expressed hope that the Middle Corridor connecting China-Europe will become even more attractive for cargo owners," - the Georgian Railway stated.
