The General Director of the Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation, Giorgi Chikovani, who is paying an official visit to Egypt together with the Commercial Director, Nikoloz Pitskhelauri, met with the Chairman of the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company, Magdy Galal, and the Deputy Chairman, Yasseen Mohamed Ahmed.
The key goal of the meeting was to discuss further cooperation between the Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation and the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company. The main emphasis was placed on the situation in the region and the prospects of the energy sector, taking the current challenges into account.
The parties reviewed the issues on the agenda of the Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation and were interested in their needs. Special attention was paid to the assessment of the natural gas market in Georgia and plans for the near and distant future.
"The meeting has been held for the first time between the Georgian and Egyptian gas companies, and therefore, it is very important. Egypt is rich in gas resources and exports both natural gas and liquefied natural gas (LNG). In addition to gas export, the said holding is also engaged in investing in new fields and infrastructure projects. Naturally, cooperation with them is promising for our country and the oil and gas corporation. This will be another contributing factor for the diversification of gas supply," - Giorgi Chikovani said.
At the end of the meeting, the negotiators expressed the desire to deepen mutual cooperation and planned the future steps.
