“After the pandemic, the vacation costs in Georgia have increased. Taking the example of gastrotourism into account, the price-growth was at least 30%,” – the founder of the Gastronomic Tourism Business Association of Georgia, Keti Kvichidze, stated.
Along with the price, there has been an increase in the interest and number of both domestic and international visitors. The interest in gastrotourism has increased a lot, especially in domestic tourism, which is an unexpected and very positive trend. As for international visitors, mostly Europeans, then the neighboring countries, are into gastrotourism, and there is very less interest from the Arab countries, perhaps this is due to the fact that the gastro- and ethno-tourism are closely linked.
Recently, I had German and French guests, and strange as it may seem, the conservative French, who love their cuisine very much, could not hide their admiration for the Georgian gastronomy. In this regard, Kakheti and Adjara rank 1st, which are already leading in the tourism data. The demand has increased in Imereti and recently in Racha, where summer festivals also contributed to the activity. This always gives a good effect.
The price of gastrotourism has increased by at least 30% since the pandemic", - Keti Kvichidze said.
