
This year, the import of garlic to Georgia tripled in 6 months. According to the data published by the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat), in January-June 2022, Georgia purchased 824.2 tons (444.4 thousand USD) of products, while in the same period last year - 289.2 tons (140.3 thousand USD).
As for exports, according to the Geostat data, there is a slight increase in volume, although the price has decreased. In particular, this year 332 tons (373.2 thousand USD) of local products were exported from Georgia in 6 months, and in January-June 2021 - 330 tons (405 thousand USD).
The list of the countries Georgia imported garlic in 6 months of 2022 is as follows:
Turkey - 415.3 tons (with the revenue of $208.1 thousand);
China - 387 tons (with the revenue of $217.3 thousand);
Egypt - 19 tons (with the revenue of $17.5 thousand);
Iran - 2.9 tons (with the revenue of $1.45 thousand).
The list of the countries Georgia exported locally produced garlic to in 6 months of 2022 is as follows:
Russia - 203.6 tons (with the revenue of $262.7 thousand);
Armenia - 128.3 tons (with the revenue of $110.5 thousand).
It should be noted that compared to 2022, last year Georgia had more trading partner countries for exports. According to statistical data, during the 6 months of 2021, small quantities of garlic were also exported to: Hong Kong, Qatar, Singapore and the United Arab Emirates.
