
“From a fiscal perspective, 2021 was better than 2020. Last year, the changes were made to the state budget for 2021 twice. In total, the budget allocations, which initially amounted to 18 billion 385 million GEL, increased by 1 billion 411 million GEL and totaled 19 billion 796 million GEL,” - the Chairman of the Finance and Budget Committee of the Parliament of Georgia Irakli Kovzanadze said during his speech at the parliamentary session, where the Annual Report on Implementation of State Budget 2021 was discussed.
According to Irakli Kovzanadze, the budget allocations for health care, social protection and displaced persons totaled 976 million GEL; allocations in the direction of agricultural support and environmental protection - 177 million GEL, defense costs - 90 million GEL, the program for renewed regions - 90 million GEL, education costs - 40 million GEL.; culture, sports and youth affairs-related costs - 31 million GEL. etc..
The co-rapporteur spoke in detail about the main parameters, achievements and challenges of last year's budget.
"Inflation is the main challenge of our economy and society. Obviously, this is the responsibility and mandate of the National Bank, but it is important to involve the Ministry of Finance so that the inflation rate approaches the target level as quickly as possible, the prices actually decrease and the social condition of the population improves," - Irakli Kovzanadze noted.
