The National Food Agency of Georgia, with the support of the National Animal Identification and Traceability System (NAITS) project of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), provides registration of bee farms free of charge.
Farmers should apply to regional/municipal offices of the National Food Agency for beekeeping registration.
Appropriate information material was prepared in order to increase the awareness of farmers. The representatives of the National Food Agency and the National Animal Identification and Traceability System (NAITS) project are holding regular meetings with beekeepers.
Identification and registration contributes to the introduction of a traceability system for products of animal origin, which is the most important link in the food safety chain; Also, it allows farmers to participate in and benefit from various government programs, produce competitive products and sell them smoothly in local and international markets.
