
“The Deputy Prime Minister/the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Levan Davitashvili met with Mark Gerrard, Vice President of EDF, a large French energy company,” - the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia reports.
"The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Economy Minister Romeo Mikautadze, the Director of the Georgian Energy Development Fund Jaba Khmaladze and the French Ambassador to Georgia Diego Colas.
At the meeting, the representatives of the French company expressed great interest in the development of the Georgian energy sector, local renewable resources and investments. To this end, the EDF will explore the potential of the country’s energy projects.
For their part, the representatives of the Ministry talked about the development trends, challenges and opportunities of the Georgian energy sector, focused on the reform of the electricity market and its results, as well as a major energy project, which envisages the connection of the energy systems of Georgia and the European Union through the cable going to the bottom of the Black Sea.
It is noteworthy that the company EDF is consulting with the "Georgian State Electrosystem" in the research project on the development of energy saving technologies," - the statement reads.
