Freight turnover in the corridor of Georgia has increased by 20.5%. According to the data of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, in 2022, the amount of freight transported abroad by the Georgian transport sectors (automotive, railway, civil aviation) amounted to 27.9 million tons, increasing by 20.5% compared to the data of 2021 (23.2 million tons).
Road transport: In 2022, the amount of freight transported abroad by international road transport amounted to 15.0 million tons, which is 15.9% more than the amount recorded in 2021 (13.0 million tons).
Railway: in 2022, the amount of freight transported abroad by the Georgian Railway amounted to 12.9 million tons, which is 26.4% more than the amount recorded in 2021 (10.2 million tons).
In 2022, the number of containers transported by BTK (Gardabani-Akhalkalaki and reverse direction) amounted to 19,739 TEU, which is 3.7% less than the amount recorded in 2021 (20,492 TEU).
In 2022, the number of containers transported on the Middle Corridor from/to China via Georgia amounted to 10,936 TEU, which is 8.3% more than the amount recorded in 2021 (10,094 TEU).
Additionally, in 2022, the total amount of freight transported by the Georgian Railway amounted to 14.8 million tons, which is 21.8% more than the amount recorded in 2021 (12.1 million tons).
