
According to preliminary data, the volume of direct foreign investments made in Georgia in the 3rd quarter of 2023 amounted to $316.0 million.
According to the National Statistics Office of Georgia (GEOSTAT), in the III quarter of 2023, compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, the volume of direct foreign investments decreased by 61.5 percent. This is mainly caused by the decrease in the volume of debt obligations and reinvestments. In the same period, compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, the share capital increased 2.5 times and amounted to $590.3 million, and the volume of reinvestment decreased by 30 percent and reached $329.2 million.
Considering the direct foreign investments made in Georgia in the III quarter of 2023, the largest investor countries were distributed as follows: the USA ranks 1st with $51.8 million, which is 16.4 percent of total foreign direct investments, the United Kingdom ranked 2nd with $45.8 million (14.5 percent), and the Netherlands - third with $45.3 million (14.3 percent). The share of the five largest investor countries is 58.7 percent of the total volume of investments.
