“The Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Otar Shamugia, and the State Representative in the Guria region, visited the Natani village of Ozurgeti Municipality and attended the harvesting process in a nut garden of farmer Nikoloz Gobronidze,” - the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture of Georgia reported.
"For Georgia, nuts are one of the strategic crops with great potential. However, as you know, this industry has been facing the challenge of fighting against the pests for years. To deal with this challenge, the government, our farmers, the Farmers' Association, are jointly taking large-scale measures, for which we have mobilized a great deal of financial, technical and human resources for many years. International organizations and experts are helping us. Our main goal is to get a high-quality harvest. Only high-quality products are competitive and in demand in both local and international markets.
We will definitely get better results. Fruit farmers are much more organized - we have much better orchards than a few years ago. This progress should continue, as a result of which, we will have a good quality harvest, which will affect the price and the income of our farmers," - said Otar Shamugia.
Ozurgeti municipality mayor Avtandil Talakvadze and Ozurgeti municipality council chairman Davit Darchia were present in the village of Natani with the minister.
