
In January-March 2022, imports from Russia to Georgia increased by 23.7% compared to the same period last year. As for March, the last month imports from Russia to Georgia amounted to $91,580,350, while in the same period last year - $89,306,550, and in February 2022 - $95,923,710.
According to the National Statistics Office of Georgia, in March, after the start of the war in Ukraine, the list of the top ten products imported from Russia to Georgia includes wheat and meslin and wheat or wheat and rye flour.
It should be noted that the import of flour from Russia to Georgia in March increased by 11 times annually, or by 1,037%, while on a monthly basis it decreased by 46.5%. In particular, the import of flour in March amounted to $2 507 230, while in the same period of 2021 the figure was $220.53 thousand, and in February 2022 - $4 682 010.
As for wheat and meslin, annual imports have reduced by 36.9%, and compared to February 2022 - by 15.6%. More specifically, in March 2022, the country imported $2,446,670 worth of products from Russia, in February - imports amounted to $2 898 560, and in March last year – to $3 874 840.
