The Flame of Peace for the Winter European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) Bakuriani 2025 arrived in Tbilisi. The flame was formally handed over to Olympic champion Lasha Bekauri.
The Flame of Peace was lit during a ceremony in Rome, Italy, by Georgian athletes Anastasia Mirianashvili, Nikoloz Egadze, and Mamuka Khabareli, the President of the Bakuriani 2025 Organising Committee.
Bakuriani 2025 will be the 17th edition of the Winter EYOF, scheduled to take place from February 9 to 16. This event will mark Georgia’s first Winter Olympic Festival, positioning the country as the sixth in Europe to host both the Summer and Winter European Youth Olympic Festivals.
The festival is expected to attract approximately 2,000 visitors and 1,000 participants, who will compete in eight winter sports. According to event organisers, Bakuriani 2025 is anticipated to have a significant impact on the development of the country's winter tourism and sports sectors.
