
From May 21, 2022, Uzbekistan Airways is scheduled to launch flights from Tashkent to Batumi and vice versa. According to the flight application submitted by the airline to the Georgian Civil Aviation Agency, regular flights between Tashkent and Batumi will be operated twice a week, every Wednesday and Saturday, through October 1.
"Development of Georgia's aviation sector, operation of new flights and airlines and the increase in air traffic to different countries of the world is an important direction, which the rapid recovery and improvement of one of the priority sectors of the economy - tourism – depends on. We know that we have a very growing dynamics in tourism and we are glad that the number of visitors from Uzbekistan will have a significant share in these positive statistics," - the Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Mariam Kvrivishvili said.
She said the number of visitors from Uzbekistan within the first four months of this year has increased by 95% compared to the rate observed in the same period in 2019, and by 59% compared to the first four months of last year. According to Mariam Kvrivishvili, performing flights from Batumi Airport by the Uzbek airline will further improve this dynamic.
On May 16, the Civil Aviation Agency of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia granted a permit to Uzbekistan Airways to operate in the mentioned directions.
