In 2023, more than 13 million tons of watermelon, melon and papaya worth up to $4 million entered the country, while in 2023, 15 million tons - worth up to $2.8 million.
In 2023-2022, Georgia’s main partner in imports was Armenia. In addition to Armenia, watermelons, melons and papayas were imported from Ukraine, Russia and Belarus.
As for the export volume, it has decreased by almost 300% in 2023 compared to the previous year.
Last year, up to 155,000 tons (448,000 tons) of fruits were exported from the country, while in 2022 -1.8 million tons of watermelon, melon and papaya worth $445,000. Georgia’s main partner in imports was still Armenia.
In 2023, the countries watermelon, melon and papaya were imported into were as follows:
Armenia - $355,000;
Ukraine - $7500;
Romania - $12,000;
Belarus - $6,000;
Russia - $1000.
