In the first quarter of 2022, Georgia-Kazakhstan trade turnover rate increased to $ 29.4 million. According to official statistics, in the recent reporting period, trade between the two countries was at its highest level in 2018, with a turnover of $ 42.7 million, after which this number was characterized by a downward trend. In January-March this year, trade with Kazakhstan increased by 123.4% compared to the same period last year, and the country was included in the list of the top ten export markets.
In the first three months of 2022, Georgia earned $ 23.7 million from exports of goods to Kazakhstan. This is the highest rate of exports to this country within the last 10 years. During this period, after the US, the growth rate of sales of goods in Kazakhstan was the highest, and in 3 months, the growth rate of exports amounted to 149.7%. As a result, Kazakhstan ranked tenth in the list of TOP-10 largest exporting countries.
As for the goods Georgia exported to Kazakhstan with the largest volume during this period, the list of TOP-10 export products is as follows:
1. Cars - $ 9.6 million;
2. Mineral and fresh water - $ 6.7 million, 10 852 tons;
3. Natural grape wines - $ 1.8 million, 568 tons;
4. Carbonated and sweet mineral waters - $ 939 thousand, 1 414 tons;
5. Manganese ores and concentrates - $ 863 thousand, 3 243 tons;
6. Furnaces and industrial or laboratory chambers - $ 697 thousand, 7 tons;
7. Ferrous metal pipes and tubes - $ 524 thousand, 524 tons;
8. Undenatured type ethyl alcohol - $ 462 thousand, 88 tons;
9. Canned fruits and plant parts - $ 204 thousand, 112 tons;
10. Measuring and control instruments - $ 149 thousand, 0.3 tons.
In addition, nuts, air conditioners, centrifuges, cigars, etc. were exported in small quantities.
It should be noted that the main share of trade turnover with Kazakhstan belongs to the exports. As for the imports, in the first three months of 2022 this number increased by 55.6% and Georgia bought goods worth 5.7 million dollars from the import market. The highest rate ($ 27.2 million) of imports from Kazakhstan in the last 10 years was recorded in 2018.
According to official statistics, the major imported goods purchased from Kazakhstan earlier this year were wheat and meslin.
