
The export of Georgian alcoholic beverages (spirits obtained as a result of the distillation of grape wine or the so-called chacha) to Russia increased by almost 134%. According to the data published by the National Statistics Office of Georgia (GEOSTAT), this year Georgia exported products worth $11,411 million to Russia in 3 months. It should be noted that this volume of alcoholic drink has not actually been sold in Russia until now.
In the first quarter of 2023, Georgia sold alcoholic beverages worth a total of $20,736 million abroad. Accordingly, it turns out that Russia's share in the total export of alcoholic beverages was 55%.
As for the total figure of 2022, last year alcoholic beverages worth $100,488 million were sold, of which 56% ($56,355 million) of the total export, were sent to Russia.
