Georgian, Armenian and Indian drinks will replace the foreign brands that have disappeared as a result of Western sanctions imposed on the Russian alcohol market for the New Year. The export of Georgian wine, spirits and champagne to the North even broke the record of the last 10-12 years.
In particular, in January-September 2022, alcohol and spirit drinks worth of $ 40.6 million worth were exported from Georgia, and in the same period last year, products worth of 24.6 million (an increase of 65%) were exported. As for sparkling wines, export has doubled in 9 months.
There is almost a 15% increase in the case of natural wines, in particular, as of January-September of this year, wine of $108.7 million was exported from Georgia, and last year, the revenue totaled $94.6 million.
In early November, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation included up to 40 brands of alcohol in the list of goods allowed for parallel import, however, the mechanism turned out to be ineffective and the government could not agree with foreign companies.
