
Apple export from Georgia doubled in the first quarter of this year. According to the data published by the National Statistics Office of Georgia (GEOSTAT), during this period, 4,752 tons of apples worth more than $3 million were sold from the country. While in the first quarter of 2022, the value of 4,752 tons of apples exported from the country was $1.5 million.
Official statistics show that Russia has been the main apple export market (96.8%) for years. This year, in January-March, apples were exported from Georgia in five directions. The ranking of export countries according to value is as follows:
1. Russia - $2.9 million, 4 615 tons;
2. Armenia - $57 thousand, 48 tons;
3. The United Arab Emirates - $18 thousand, 20 tons;
4. Azerbaijan - $12 thousand, 48 tons;
5. Kazakhstan - $7 thousand, 20 tons.
It should be noted that in the history of apple export among the countries, the goods were sold in the United Arab Emirates for the first time.
After 2020, the import of apples is characterized by a decreasing trend. In the first quarter of this year, the import of fresh apples decreased and only 1,002 tons of apples worth $415,000 were sold.

2. Ukraine - $93 thousand, 243 tons;
3. The Netherlands - $29 thousand, 17 tons;
4. Moldova - $14 thousand, 20 tons.
