In 2022, the number of arrivals of international non-resident travellers on the territory of Georgia equalled 5.4 million, which is 2.9 times higher compared to year-over-year, the Georgian National Statistics Service (GeoStat) reported.
The number of international visitors equaled 3.9 million, which is 2.8 times higher compared to the data from the previous year.
In the reporting period, international visitors made 3.7 million tourist-type visits, which made 2.3 up year-on-year.
In 2022, the largest number of visitors (915.1 thousand visitors) was from the Russian Federation, which amounts to 23.3% of the total number of visitors. Turkey and Armenia come to second and third places, respectively.
In 2022, the purpose of most visits (53.6%) was holiday, leisure, and recreation. Tbilisi and the Adjara Autonomous Republic were visited the most.
The expenditures during the visits made in 2022 amounted to GEL 10.8 billion, which the average spending per visit totaling GEL 2,297.7.
