The wine tasting was held as part of the event, where about 200 Georgian wines were presented by importers.
Master of wine, Head of the National Wine Agency contractor company "Red Bridge", Kenichi Ohashi, and a Japanese top-sommelier Motohiro Okoshi talked about the history and modernity of the Georgian winemaking.
Japan is one of the strategic markets of the Georgian wine, where, with the support of the National Wine Agency of Georgia, the first large-scale presentation of the Georgian wine took place in 2014. In subsequent years, also supported by the National Wine Agency of Georgia, Georgian wine companies participated in "Foodex Japan" and "Wine and Gourmet Japan" exhibitions. In local wine competitions, tours of Japanese wine professionals and media representatives in Georgia and presentation and tastings of the Georgian wine in different cities of Japan were organized.
As a result of the activities implemented, the export of Georgian wine to Japan is increasing; As of 8 months of 2022, up to 200,000 bottles were exported to Japan, which is 80% more than the same figure last year.
