Within the aviation forum CONNECT 2023, the Director of the Union of Georgian Airports, Irakli Karkashadze, met with the representatives of the German low-cost airline EUROWINGS.
Reportedly, the details of the operation of the airline in Georgia and ways of further development were discussed at the meeting.
"The Union of Georgian Airports has been actively negotiating with the Eurowings airline company since 2017 in order to start direct air traffic in the direction of Georgia and increase the number of destinations. As a result, in 2021, the airline entered the Georgian air market and launched flights twice a week to Düsseldorf from the Tbilisi Airport. In the summer of 2022, another new destination to Stuttgart was added. Germany is historically our most strategic destination. For the summer season, we will have direct regular flights to 9 cities in Germany, both from the Tbilisi and Kutaisi international airports," - Irakli Karkashadze said.
Eurowings entered the Georgian aviation market on July 4, 2021. The airline's tariff policy is designed for BASIC, SMART and BIZclass air tickets.
