“We hope for a positive outcome at the end of this year, the Ambassador of the European Union to Georgia, Pawel Herczynski,” - said after the meeting with the chairmen of the committees in the Parliament.
“Let me start by wishing all the Georgians, all the Georgian families all the best, very successful, happy New Year, not only for Georgia and Georgian families, but also for the country on its paths towards membership in the European Union. I hope that 2023 will be a very good year, very successful year for not only for the Georgians, but also for the European Union. Today I had a very busy day, I visited several chairs of parliamentary committees, actually, I will see all the chairs of all the committees. I have started with the Committee of European integration, Committee of Foreign Affairs, Human Rights Committee and Legal Committee. We have discussed the ongoing work on the implementation of the so-called 12 priorities, and in more general, we have discussed approximation of Georgia with European standards and European principles, because at the end of this year, first the European Commission and then European member states will assess the progress made by Georgia and will decide on further steps when it comes to Georgia aspiration to join the European Union. As European Union ambassador in Georgia, of course, we will do our best in order to help, in order to assist in this process, hoping for a positive outcome at the end of this year. And positive outcome means another step of Georgia towards European Union membership, namely the candidate status. So we are not only keeping our fingers crossed, but we are also ready to help and to assist both the Georgia Government as well as all the work that is ongoing in the Parliament in order to make it happen”, - the Ambassador said.
