The EU project REACT for Georgia (Resilient, Engaged, Active Civil Society for Transformation), valued at €1,568,328, launched on February 1, 2025, and is set to conclude on January 31, 2027, according to EU Neighbours East.
REACT for Georgia aims to enhance the resilience of local civil society in Georgia's regions, helping them tackle current challenges and continue supporting democratic governance and civic engagement across the country.
Additionally, the REACT project focuses on the targeted consolidation of Georgian civil society, not just within the sector but across various domains, fostering cooperation among civil society, businesses, media, and citizens. It also prioritizes strengthening the sector’s institutional capacity and enhancing its long-term sustainability.
In line with its goal of promoting democratic values and supporting civil society, REACT has established Civil Society Hubs as the functional backbone of the sector in all 10 regions of Georgia. The project also encourages community-based organizations and civic actors to build their capacity, improve advocacy skills, and enhance public outreach to engage local communities and address regional challenges.
This initiative builds on the insights and experience gained from two prior large-scale projects: the Georgian Civil Society Sustainability Initiative (2017-2021) and the Civil Society STAR Initiative (2021-2024), both of which focused on strengthening civil society across Georgia, the statement concludes.
