Andrius Kalindra, the Lithuanian Ambassador to Georgia, said he hoped European Union member states would reach a consensus on granting the country the membership candidate status this month.
Kalindra said the upcoming decision on the status was a very responsible moment for the EU itself, European countries and Georgia, and added Lithuania was “actively working” with its European counterparts to reach the required unanimous consensus on the matter.
,,Everything is possible. We don't have the luxury of wasting time, so we have to take this opportunity responsibly and actively work with all parties”, - Kalindra stressed.
The European Commission in November recommended the European Council to grant the country the EU membership candidate status. The Council is expected to make the decision on the status for Georgia on December 15.
