“The recommendations and conclusions from the enlargement report indicate that Georgia has backslid more than any other country,” European Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Marta Kos said ahead of the EU Foreign Ministers’ meeting.
Kos emphasized her hope that the Georgian government will recommit to its European trajectory.
“If the country wishes to advance on the European path, it must take a different approach. This responsibility lies with the government. Naturally, we will continue to support civil society and independent media, which are crucial—not only to give hope to the people but also to signal to the government that ignoring public will is unacceptable.
Regarding Georgia, I sincerely hope that, with the support of its citizens, the authorities will return to the European path. Ultimately, this decision is in their hands,” Kos added.
