
A memorandum of cooperation was signed between the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia and the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications of Japan in the field of information and communication. The document was signed by Deputy Minister Guram Guramishvili, who is on a working visit to Japan. The signing ceremony took place within the framework of the global Internet Governance Forum (IGF), which is taking place in Kyoto, Japan.
"Japan is one of the leaders worldwide in developing sustainable broadband infrastructure and mobile networks. Thus, cooperation with Japan in this direction will contribute to the introduction and development of the mentioned technologies in Georgia. Establishing a digital hub connecting Europe and Asia in Georgia is a priority of our economic policy. Our goal is to promote the improvement of network security, the development of data centers and related facilities, and the ICT industry in general, as well as the attraction of investments in the mentioned field, the advancement of inventions and researches, technical innovations, and other important directions," – Guramishvili said.
As part of the Internet Governance Forum, the Georgian delegation has planned bilateral meetings. The forum focuses on all current issues related to the development of the Internet.
