The European People’s Party (EPP) has called on the EU and its member states to impose targeted sanctions on Georgian billionaire Bidzina Ivanishvili and his allies, accusing them of undermining democracy, human rights, and the rule of law in Georgia.

In a statement, the EPP criticized the October 4 local elections as a "sham" marked by record-low turnout, opposition boycotts, and political repression. The party urged the ruling Georgian Dream to end violence and respect citizens’ pro-European aspirations.
