Employees of Georgia's National Intellectual Property Centre participated in a trademark training workshop organized by the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) in Beijing, which brought together experts and participants from various countries, the Centre reported.
Nona Tvauri and Teona Papashvili, senior specialists from the Centre’s Trademarks and Geographical Indications Division, shared insights into the Centre's experiences and recent achievements in trademark management during the event.
The workshop provided participants with an in-depth understanding of the Chinese trademark system. CNIPA trademark experts presented information on the legal framework governing Chinese trademarks, including procedures for examination, registration, and revocation, with a particular emphasis on non-traditional marks. Participants also had the opportunity to engage in study visits to the CNIPA, local trademark offices, and SOHU, a prominent computer software company.
The Centre highlighted that the activation of cooperation between Georgia and China in intellectual property protection is a crucial element in strengthening bilateral relations and fostering regional collaboration. This cooperation is seen as instrumental in contributing to the development of Georgia's national economy.
In this context, the Centre underscored the significance of the cooperation agreement signed in September of this year between the Georgian Centre and CNIPA on the protection of geographical indications. This agreement promotes the mutual recognition of geographical indication protection systems used by both parties and encourages the sharing of resources and expertise based on common interests.
