In 2024, the total electricity traded amounted to 17,490 MWh at an average price of 134.55 GEL/MWh. July saw the highest volume at 11,624.6 MWh. Buyers saved approximately 440,000 GEL by purchasing on the exchange, as balancing electricity prices were consistently higher.
From July to December 2024, demand exceeded supply, with 1,545,806.24 MWh demanded and only 67,723.2 MWh supplied. The minimum selling price was 126 GEL/MWh, and the maximum buying price reached 150 GEL/MWh, with buyers often paying 1-19% lower than balancing electricity prices.
The market remains deficit-driven, with limited electricity available on the exchange due to imports and PPA agreements. The highest demand occurred on August 15, reaching 3,041.1 MWh. Despite opportunities, liquidity remained low, influenced by unchanged buyer expectations and the lack of available supply.
