
Based on official statistical data, the inflow of Danish investments to Georgia started in 2005 with a small volume, and in 2006 it increased to $42 million. In the last 5 years, the largest investment in the amount of $28.9 million came in 2020, and in 2022, the amount of financial resources received from Denmark amounted to $18.9 million.
Last year, the turnover of Georgian and Danish goods trade amounted to $29.5 million. The growth in 2022 is 32.3%. Export occupies a small place in trade turnover. Last year, Georgia received a total of $3.5 million from the sale of goods in Denmark, which is 62% higher than the 2021 figure.
The main export goods in Denmark are cosmetics, which are mainly re-exported. The list of TOP-5 export goods is as follows:
1. Cosmetics - $2.5 million;
2. Seeds, fruits and spores to be sown - $368 thousand;
3. Natural grape wines - $219 thousand;
4. Manganese oxides - $175 thousand;
5. Women's blouses, shirts and pants - $49 thousand.
In 2022, 26.1 million were transferred from Georgia to Denmark for the purchase of goods of various names, which is an increase of 29.2% compared to the import of 2021.
The TOP-5 of imported goods looks like this:
1. Medicinal products packaged - $1.6 million;
2. Meat and food by-products made of domestic poultry, fresh, chilled or frozen - $1.5 million;
3. Frozen fish - $1.5 million;
4. Cheese and cottage cheese - $1.3 million;
5. Live cattle - $1.3 million;
The number of Danish visitors to Georgia was not high either before or after the pandemic. Totally, 6,088 Danish visitors arrived in the country in 2019, and this year the number of visits reached 3,103, which is 49% lower than the pre-pandemic rate.
