The Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze stated that if U.S. President-elect Donald Trump succeeds in "freeing" the United States from the influence of the "deep state," it would result in an improvement in relations between Georgia and the U.S.
During a press conference, Kobakhidze emphasized the significance of Trump's goals following his inauguration as President in January.
"The key factor is what Donald Trump will do. He has stated that his aim is to liberate U.S. institutions from the deep state and its remnants. If he achieves this, it will directly benefit Georgia’s interests, and in such circumstances, the relationship between the U.S. and Georgia will improve," Kobakhidze explained.
He also expressed hope that the issue of the deep state would be completely defeated.
"We have been discussing this issue for a long time. The deep state represents informal influence, and it is the main tool of these informal powers, particularly the ‘Global War Party.’ Members of Trump’s team have recently begun speaking out about the same issues we've been addressing. This is the reality," Kobakhidze stated.
The Prime Minister also pointed out that official structures in the U.S. face similar challenges to those in the European Union, due to the influence of the "deep state." He expressed confidence that this issue would be resolved in both contexts, asserting that the full improvement of Georgia-U.S. relations "depends on this."
