According to the data published by the National Statistics Office of Georgia (GEOSTAT), in the II quarter of 2023, the share capital decreased by 23.3 percent compared to the corresponding period of the previous year and amounted to 72.9 million. USD, which is 14.4 percent of the total foreign direct investments. Reinvestment of 422.5 mln. amounted to US dollars, and its share was determined at 83.5 percent.
According to the direct foreign investments made in Georgia in the II quarter of 2023, the largest investor countries were distributed as follows: the United Kingdom ranks 1st – with $168.3 million, which is 33.3 percent of the total direct foreign investments, Turkey ranks 2nd – with $71.0 million (14.0 percent), and the third is the Netherlands – with $62.7 million (12.4 percent). The share of the five largest investor countries is 78.0 percent of the total volume of investments.
In the second quarter of 2023, the largest foreign direct investment was made in the sector of financial and insurance activities and amounted to $255.7 million, which is 50.6 percent of the total foreign direct investments. The second place is occupied by the energy sector – with $137.2 million (27.1 percent), and the third - by the processing industry sector with $35.6 million (7.0 percent).
