“A Memorandum of Understanding on Air Service was signed between the civil aviation authorities of Georgia and Kazakhstan in Malaysia,” - the Georgian Civil Aviation Agency said.
Under the agreement concluded between the two countries at the ongoing International Civil Aviation Organisation’s Air Services Negotiation Event, Georgian airlines will have an opportunity to carry out direct regular flights to 12 additional cities in Kazakhstan.
The Agency noted additional destinations include big cities of Kazakhstan, such as Shymkent, Aktobe, Karaganda, Kostanay, Taraz, Semey and others, adding until now, regular flights were operated from Georgia only to Astana, Almaty, and Aktau.
Givi Davitashvili, the Director of the Civil Aviation Agency, highlighted the importance of the Memorandum, saying “the agreement will improve the access of Georgian airlines to Kazakhstan’s aviation market and contribute to further increase of air traffic between the two countries”.
Currently, Kazakh airlines Air Astana, FlyArystan and SCAT operate flights between Georgia and Kazakhstan.
