The copies of the Georgian-Italian diplomatic correspondence from 1918 to 1921 will be stored in the National Archives of the Ministry of Justice of Georgia starting today, enriching the collections from the First Republic period. These archival materials will be processed and, in the near future, will be made available to researchers and the public in the National Archives' research halls.
The study of these historical documents, which reflect the relations between the Georgian Democratic Government and the Kingdom of Italy, was initiated in 1995 by Beglar Tavartkiladze, the former Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to Italy. He has now handed over the collected archival materials to Teona Iashvili, Director General of the National Archives, at an event held at the Georgian National Academy of Sciences.
The event began with an introductory speech by the President of the Academy, Academician Roin Metreveli, and was attended by members of the Academy’s Presidium, invited guests, researchers, and scientists.
