“Georgia has a very positive dynamics of recovery of the tourism industry. In January 2022, compared to the same period in 2019, the number of tourist arrivals increased by 53 percent. All the measures - marketing campaigns or activities that the Georgian government has implemented and is still carrying out in a number of strategic, target countries along with the private sector, will be directly proportional to the successful results we see today in terms of the dynamics of tourism recovery," - said Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Mariam Kvrivishvili.
According to the Georgian National Tourism Administration, a total of 199,393 international travelers visited Georgia, which is a 38% recovery of the 2019 levels, and 471% more compared to 2021.
163,615 international tourists visited Georgia in January that shows a recovery of 53% to the 2019 levels and 456% more compared to 2021.
The acting head of the National Tourism Administration says the January statistics show even more positive expectations.
