
In January-July 2023, Georgia bought 9,144 tons of cucumbers worth 3,564,460 US dollars, which is almost one million dollars more compared to the same period of the previous year. In the same period of 2022, 8,444 tons of cucumbers worth 2,786,460 US dollars were imported into the country. Accordingly, it turns out that if last year one kilogram of cucumbers cost 32 cents on average, this year this price has increased to 39 cents.
It should be noted that both last year and this year, the largest amount of cucumbers was imported from Turkey. More specifically, in January-July 2023, Georgia bought 8,182 tons of cucumbers worth 3,191,790 USD from Turkey, while Iran (920 tons worth $356,600) and Armenia (26 tons worth $10,580) rank 2nd.
In 2022, Georgia bought 11,875 tons of cucumbers worth 4,060,800. The main importer was Turkey, which accounted for about 86% of the purchase (10,133 tons worth $3,487,190), and the rest was imported from Iran (1,741 tons worth $573,620).
