The current global events and the olive oil price increase are obviously reflected in the Georgian market, where imported olive oil is mainly sold. Georgia buys the mentioned product from the following five countries.
According to the data of January-August 2023, olives were imported to the country in the largest quantities from the following countries:
Spain - 74.9 thousand tons – with the earning of $607 thousand;
Italy - 69 thousand tons - with the earning of $ 518 thousand;
Turkey - 38.8 thousand tons - with the earning of $225 thousand;
Azerbaijan - 29.7 thousand tons - with the earning of $131 thousand;
France - 8.2 thousand tons - with the earning of $52 thousand.
As for the general indicator, in January-August 2023, Georgia purchased olive oil worth $1,610 million, and in the same period of 2022 - worth $1,470 million.
