
“In the first quarter of 2023, revenues from international tourism increased by 102% compared to the same period of the previous year and amounted to $795.4 million,” - the National Tourism Administration of Georgia reported.
According to the statistics published on the website of the National Bank of Georgia, in the 1st quarter of last year, the revenues from foreign travelers amounted to $393.7 million, while in the same period of 2021 this figure was $53.6 million. In the pandemic January-March 2020, the revenues from travel amounted to 427.7 million US dollars.
It should be noted that in the 1st quarter of 2023, Georgia received more income from international travel than in the same period of 2019 before the pandemic. In January-March 2019, before the pandemic, the country received $578.4 million in revenues from foreign travelers.
Revenues from international travelers by countries in Q1 2023 are as follows:
Russia - $266.4 million;
Other countries - $135.2 million;
Turkey - $96.3 million;
EU countries - $73.2 million;
Israel - $60.8 million;
Ukraine - $56.2 million;
Armenia - $29.7 million;
Azerbaijan - $28.2 million;
Belarus - $24.1 million;
Iran - $19.7 million;
Saudi Arabia - $5.6 million.
