A cooperation agreement was signed between the Agricultural Program of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the National Wine Agency of Georgia in order to support marketing activities focused on increasing the export of Georgian wine.
The agreement was signed by the head of the USAID Agriculture Program, Luiza Namicheishvili, and the chairman of the National Wine Agency, Levan Mekhuzla.
Based on discussions with Georgia’s Ministry of Environment and Agriculture, National Wine Agency and representatives of the private sector, as well as the analysis of Georgian wine export statistics and trends, the United States, Germany and South Korea were identified as priority markets for the diversification of Georgian wine exports within the framework of the USAID Agriculture Program.
"The wine sector has recently been added to our program, which will give us the opportunity to collaborate on marketing activities with the National Wine Agency. As part of the program, three target markets were selected - the United States, Germany in Europe, and we are also planning pilot activities in the South Korean market. We hope that, as a result of our activities, the awareness of Georgian wine will increase, because it is truly a unique and diverse product that we can offer to all consumers and wine lovers," said the Head of USAID Agriculture Program Luisa Namicheishvili.
