
The cargo turnover of the Georgian ports has increased - it is known from the report published by the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia. According to the document, in January-April 2022, the ports handled a total of 4 million tons of cargo, which is 0.5 million tons more than the volume reported last year.
The number of recycled containers has also increased. In January-April of last year the Poti and Batumi container terminals handled 128,000 units of containers, however, in 2022 this number has increased to 137,000.
In more detail – the Poti Port handled 2.4 million tons of cargo (up by 0.2 million tons), while the Batumi Port - 1.6 million tons (up by 0.3 million tons).
Railway cargo turnover also increased, amounting to 4.1 million tons during this period, which is 0.1 million tons more than volume reported the previous year.
Land freight is twice as high as that of the railways, which amounted to 8.7 million tonnes this year. The increase here is 0.1 million tons.
