
“The Committee for Sectoral Economy and Economic Policy is scheduled to launch the thematic inquiry on the state, development and prospects of the digital economy,” - the press service of the Parliament of Georgia reports.
The First Deputy Chair, Eka Sepashvili dwelt on the necessity of the inquiry, stating that the digital economy is one of the key directions of world development and Georgia shall not linger behind this tendency but ensure the business development, democratic development and sustainability in the country through this direction.
“It envisages the creation of the environment to facilitate more transparency and accountability, as well as civic engagement in any processes – decision-making or enforcement; thus, our Committee has considered it expedient to study the situation in the country, identify the respective legal base, quality of the respective infrastructures and the commitment of the business and consumers to establishing the hereof services”, - Eka Sepashvili stated.
The MPs, Government members, and representatives of the business, academic circles and private sector will be engaged in the inquiry, which is backed by USAID.
