"Commercial banks in Georgia loaned GEL 57.34 billion ($21.2 bln) and received deposits of GEL 54.83 billion ($20.3 bln) in June," the latest data from the National Bank of Georgia shows.

The volume of loans increased by 1.71 percent compared to the previous month, while the number of deposits increased by 3.49 percent month-on-month.

In June, the volume of term deposits increased by 3.84 percent, while on-demand deposits also saw a 3.23 percent increase, the NBG also said.

Loans taken out in the national currency amounted to GEL 785.90 million ($291 mln), while loans in foreign currencies constituted GEL 180.28 million ($66 mln).
