
The representatives of the Communications Commission visited the Lithuanian Radio and Television Commission to implement the EU's Audiovisual Media Services Directive (AVMSD) and deepen cooperation. During the visit, Ivane Makharadze, a member of the Communications Commission, and Nino Grdzelishvili, the Head of International Relations and Project Management, met with their Lithuanian counterparts, including the Chairman of the Lithuanian Radio and Television Commission, members and heads of thematic departments. The parties discussed the experience gained by Lithuania in implementing the new Audiovisual Media Services Directive, the key innovations provided by the Directive and the challenges emerging in this process. They talked in detail about the activities carried out in the field of clearing online space of illegal content and the situation in this market in Lithuania.
As part of the visit, a cooperation agreement was signed between the Communications Commission and the Lithuanian Radio and Television Commission, which will facilitate the sharing of information and experience between the parties, while ensuring greater involvement of the Commission in the international events organized by the Lithuanian Commission. The memorandum was signed by the member of the Communications Commission Ivane Makharadze on behalf of the Communications Commission, and on behalf of the Lithuanian Radio and Television Commission by the Chairman of the Commission - Rimantas Bagdzevičius.
Ivane Makharadze also held an introductory working meeting with the newly appointed Chairman of the Lithuanian Communications Regulatory Authority (RRT), Jūratė Šovienė, and the new members of the Commission. It is noteworthy that the Communications Commission and the Lithuanian Communications Regulatory Authority (RRT) have a long and close relationship within the framework of both bilateral and multilateral cooperation formats.
