At the request of the Patriarch of the Holy City of Jerusalem and all of Palestine, Syria, Arabia, Jordan, Cana of Galilee and Holy Zion – His Holiness and Beatitude Theophilos III of Jerusalem, a bust of the 12th-century Georgian poet Shota Rustaveli was unveiled in the Jerusalem Patriarchate on October 2.
The author of the bust is the sculptor, Giorgi Kikvadze, the laureate of the Ilia Chavchavadze prize Saguramo;
The bust of Rustaveli was erected with the funding of Merab Kvitsaridze, an honorary citizen of Kutaisi, doctor and philanthropist. The organizer and founder of the project is Merab Michaeli, a Georgian Jew living in Israel.
The project is supported by the Ambassador of Georgian culture in Israel - Robert Adar.
