According to the chairman of the Defense Committee of the Bulgarian Parliament, Hristo Gadzhev, a number of issues were discussed at the meeting with the Georgian parliamentary delegation, including those related to Georgia's integration into NATO, defense and security.
"We discussed a lot of issues related to both NATO integration and Georgia-Bulgaria bilateral integration, not only in the field of defense and security, depending on the specifics of our committee, but also in different directions, be it economy, energy or other opportunities. Regarding the field of defense, we discussed various joint exercises and increasing compatibility between Bulgaria and Georgia, we also talked about the planned visit of the defense delegation to Georgia and coordinated cooperation with the Georgian authorities. Together with Turkey and Romania, we are starting joint exercises in the west of the Black Sea, and we have discussed the possibility of Georgia's involvement in this operation, if it would be desirable for the country, including the economy of Georgia, because the free movement of sea traffic and ferry traffic is the key factor for both countries. We also see an opportunity to support you in Coast Guard training. This initiative, which is now under discussion, belongs to Bulgaria. Regarding the connectivity of economy and energy, we talked about Bulgaria's involvement in the Black Sea submarine cable project, which was signed in Bucharest. Probably, like Hungary and Romania, we will also join this project", said Hristo Gadzhev.
