According to the data published by the National Statistics Office of Georgia (GEOSTAT), in January-November 2023, 36,942 tons (31,291 million US dollars) of products were imported into Georgia, which is the highest figure in the last 10 years (the data for this period are posted on the external trade portal).
According to the same statistics, in 11 months of 2022, 33,507 tons (25,660 million USD) of bananas were imported into the country, in 2021, 26,448 tons (17,395 million USD), in 2020, 24,140 tons (15,930 million USD), etc.
In addition, as of January-November 2023, 97% of the products were imported from Ecuador.
The list of the countries bananas were imported from last year, is as follows:
Ecuador - 35,940 tons (30,393 million USD)
Turkey - 580.5 tons (207.9 thousand USD)
The USA - 262.6 tons (207.9 thousand USD)
Germany - 155 tons (134.7 thousand USD)
The Netherlands - 3.15 tons (10.3 thousand USD)
In addition, a small amount of bananas were imported from: Greece, Nigeria and the United Arab Emirates.
