With the support of the National Wine Agency, 16 Georgian wine producing companies participated in the international food and beverage exhibition Foodex Japan 2024 held in Tokyo, Japan.
"The awareness of Georgian wine in the Asian market, particularly, Japan, is increasing every year, which is reflected in specific figures. According to the data of January-February 2024, 28 thousand liters of wine were exported to Japan, which is 549% more than the indicator of the same period of 2023. With the support of the National Wine Agency and the Embassy of Georgia in Japan, a number of important events are planned to be held this year in order to popularize Georgian wine in Japan. The goal of the agency is to introduce the world, including Japan, that wine and wine-making are a constituent part of the ancient Georgian culture," - the Deputy Chairman of the National Wine Agency of Georgia, Davit Tkemaladze, said.
As the representatives of the Georgian wine producing companies pointed out, participation in the Foodex Japan 2024 exhibition provides an opportunity to find new trade partners and increase exports, as well as introduce Georgian wine to the Japanese public and promote Georgian wine in general.
As part of the exhibition, the representatives of the National Wine Agency of Georgia will hold meetings with the Japanese marketing and consulting companies in order to expand further cooperation.
Japan is one of Georgia's strategic trading partners by exports of the Georgian wine. With the support of the National Wine Agency, the first large-scale introduction of the Georgian wine to the Japanese market took place in 2014. Since then, with the support of the government, the Georgian wine companies constantly participate in the prestigious international exhibitions Foodex Japan and Wine and Gourmet Japan; presentation and tastings of the Georgian wine are held in various Japanese cities, wine tours are organized for Japanese wine professionals and media representatives in all regions of Georgia.
