The Government of Georgia has approved the procedure for authorization of the good layer producers. As it is clear from the resolution of January 17, authorization will become mandatory for egg-laying hen enterprises in Georgia.
According to the resolution, the purpose of the mentioned rule is to authorize the egg-laying enterprise (with a distinguishing number) in order to ensure the traceability of eggs placed on the market for human consumption.
As defined in the document, a place where egg-laying hens are kept for egg production and not intended for breeding/incubator is considered as an egg-laying hen enterprise.
Under the government's decision, authorization of this type of enterprises will become mandatory from January 2025, while the operation of enterprises that have not been registered and certain information about them, including the name/address of the enterprise, owner identity etc., will not be specified in the public register will not be allowed from June 1, 2025.
