Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili has expressed concern over internal efforts undermining the country’s sovereignty, stating that the government has long worked to protect and preserve Georgia’s statehood.
“We have been grappling with this issue for a long time—our government has fought tirelessly to establish and preserve Georgia’s status as a sovereign state and to secure our national sovereignty. Unfortunately, the fight against the very concept of the state and statehood is being carried out by our own citizens,” Botchorishvili said.
She emphasized that this is precisely what the ruling party is actively resisting.
“This is exactly what we confront when observing the movements within Georgia—an outright refusal to recognise state institutions, rejection of democratic processes, and scepticism toward elections. All of these actions are aimed against the Georgian state,” the minister stated.
